At Rimguard we take great pride in making sure our wheel repair techs inspect your bent wheel thoroughly to insure a safe rim repair. Brake dust, corrosion, or tire rubber are removed for proper inspection. After inspection of this wheel a trained technician notices a small crack. A crack this small would be tigwelded and straightened. If a crack occurs near a spoke,lughole, or is much larger than the crackappearing in the picture, it would be considered unsafe to repair. In the case of large cracks, OE replacements are the answer.

After thorough inspection of your bent rim, your lughole pattern is measured. The wheel is then mounted to a specific bolt pattern plate using an air impact or torque wrench to ensure it is centered properly on our wheel straightening machine.

The radius of the wheel is checked using a dial indicator, which will pin point exactly where the wheel is bent. A specific amount of heat, controlled hydraulic pressure, and small vibrations while under pressure are used to insure a quality repair. The wheel is allowed to cool and the pressure is released. This process is repeated until it meets our specific requirements of +/- .010 inches.

The outer edge of the wheel is also measured with a dial indicator. Heat is applied to a specific area and is controlled using a temperature gage. With Rimguard designed hand tools, minor adjustments are made to the outer lip along with small vibrations. The process is repeated until the wheel meets our requirements.
